Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats

Can’t belive Christmas is almost here! How time flies – I miss the days of having “winter vacation,” but I’m busy working in our cancer hospital on oncology inpatient.

B and I alternate having Nike depending on our schedule – since the oncology rotation is busy with sick cancer patients and long hours, Nike is living with B in NYC this month. I do miss having a cuddlebug to come home to, although I don’t miss waking up an hour early to take her out.
B is delighted to have her this month, and she naps with him on the couch frequently, especially after a long walk in Central Park.
I love baking, so it’s no surprise I’d want to bake dog treats. I’ve partnered with Le Dogue, who makes amazing silicone molds. Here I’ve used the bone shape, but it also comes with paw prints too.
I’ve never used silicone molds before, but they’re much easier than cookie cutters since you just pour the batter and bake – no need to roll messy dough! You can also freeze ingredients such as yogurt or pumpkin or chicken broth in it to make popsicles, so it’s quite versatile.

This Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats recipe is my own, but the Le Dogue molds come with a recipe book with tons of safe, healthy, and delicious ideas, ranging from savory to sweet that will please any pup. There are two sizes – a mini size for small dogs and the standard size for bigger dogs and humans. I prefer the larger one, as it’s a lot easier to pour batter into bigger molds, and the pawprint/bone shape is easier to see. You can see the standard treat size in comparison to Nike, who is 7 lbs here.

These Le Dogue molds are a great gift for chef/bakers who have dogs or any dog lover who wants to make dog treats for friends/family. It’s easy to pop out the treats and clean the silicone, which is crucial when you’re busy – especially when you’re working inpatient while trying to keep up with holiday festivities.

I baked these treats for Nike, but B ended up eating a lot of them – even though they aren’t sweet, they reminded him of soft cookies, which is his favorite. They are puppy and hubby approved!

PS. B says I have Obsessive Puppy Disorder – I won’t deny I have a new favorite photography subject!

  1. I baked these for an extra 10 minutes seeing if I could get them crunchy. Was I supposed to bake them at a higher temperature for longer? They still love these yummy treats!
