Spring has definitely sprung – loving all the flowers that have popped up in the Northeast! The cherry blossoms and magnolias are in full bloom and it makes me so happy to see them.
My in laws came to visit Connecticut for the first time ever and fell in love with its New England charm. I wanted to take them berry picking but alas it’s too early for pick your own season. These raspberries were picked last summer (I’m sooo belated in my posts) when my brother came to visit me while he was interning in NYC.
We really wanted to take them on the Essex train and riverboat tour but sadly it wasn’t open yet as well (it opens mid May).
We still had a lot of fun and the weather was perfection. My husband had a light rotation and like a champ, drive daily from New Haven to Manhattan, as it was more comfortable for my in laws to stay in my larger apartment vs his 370 square foot studio.
I took my in laws to Mystic Seaport, which I highly recommend if you’re ever in the area and we showed them all the best lobster rolls in New England. They cherry blossoms were in full bloom in Wooster Square so they of course got some pictures there. Other highlights include Lighthouse Point Park for the beaches, and eating by the ocean with several charming restaurants. My father in law was in the navy so he loved all the boats and ports.
My laws are from the California near Napa Valley, and of course my father in law sampled all the wines in each restaurant (he asked Connecticut wines at one place, and they told him they only had California wines lol).
Here is a wonderful Sparkling Raspberry Rose Sangria – I’m definitely more of a mixed drink kind of person than straight up wine and this is perfectly light. The recipe came from a friend who brought these beautiful stemless wineglasses for my housewarming (this is also her adorable pitcher).
Enjoy this refreshing drink and the summer season! I can’t wait to go raspberry picking this year.
Sparkling Raspberry Rose Sangria
One 750-milliliter bottle rose wine
1 1/2 cups soda water
2 cups lemonade
1 cup raspberries
Combine the wine, soda water and lemonade to the pitcher. Add the raspberries. Refrigerate the sangria to chill at least an hour.
To serve, fill your glass with ice, and pour the sangria and fruit. Enjoy!

I like using Barefoot for wine. It's cheap and tasty lol. I got roasted on my 21st birthday because the two bottles of alcohol I bought for myself were Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey and Bubbly Pink Moscato. Apparently only one of those drinks is considered masculine :/

Never too much! I think champagne would be lovely – the only way to know is to try it out! You can experiment with half champagne half soda water perhaps
