Matcha Milk Tea Boba
This is a quick and easy boba recipe in collaboration with Aiya Matcha!
Boba always makes me really happy; my husband used to bring it to me when I was working my 28 hour shifts in the hospital as a pick me up. When I had a quiet moment on my shift, we’d meet up and sit together at the hospital entrance, drinking our boba together as a mini date. My other friends who were on overnight or 28 hour shifts would also join us, and my husband would bring them boba as well for a little boba party.
Sadly, we realized how expensive it was ordering boba constantly- the $5 per drink really added up.
We found a great brand of boba pearls on Amazon and since then have been making our boba at home at a fraction of the cost (although I did notice the Amazon price went up after coronavirus shut down all the boba places). Luckily, we found the same brand of boba in our local Asian market for even cheaper than Amazon.
I’ve always loved matcha green tea, and it’s such a refreshing drink for the summer as the weather heats up. Since we’ve made so much boba at home, I invested in some metal boba straws. Boba is just more satisfying when you drink it through a straw, and the metal is much more sustainable!
Matcha Milk Tea Boba
Ingredients
BOBA
1/2 cup boba/Tapioca Pearls (I like this brand)
water
1-2 tablespoons honey
MATCHA MILK TEA
1 tablespoon Aiya matcha green tea
3 cups almond milk
1 1/2 cup ice
brown sugar or honey, to taste
Directions
Prepare the boba according to directions
Cook the tapioca pearls according to directions. Once pearls are cooked, turn off the heat and drain the boba. Pour the cooked boba into a small bowl. Add honey to the tapioca pearls and let the pearls sit for about 5 minutes to absorb the sweetener.
In a blender, blend the matcha, almond milk, ice, and your sweetener.
Divide the pearls between two glasses and pour the matcha green tea. Enjoy!
